Lucia is an acquired taste, and I've acquired it. Quite apart from the outrageous social jujitsu that Lucia and Mapp practice on each other, which is consistently amusing in itself, Benton's language is a deep pleasure to read. This is a writer steeped in the classics, and the more you know, the more delicious you'll find the asides, the similes, the allusions. It's almost too good for the ephemera of Lucia and Mapp, but don't let that stop you.Product details

Great read which I enjoyed tremendously.
I love this series. I've read them all and can't get enough. Very well written and even the characters are wonderful. We've all met people like this. Definitely worth reading.
These Lucia books and Mapp and Lucia books are what I consider to be classics in British humor and comedies of manners. The humor is gentle and nuanced, so they aren't laugh out loud sorts of books, but the wit and humor is always an element of E. F. Benson's Lucia series.
